John Curley, Founder

My Paranormal journey began as a 10 year old boy who visited his grandfather’s house on a daily basis and always had a feeling when I went to the second floor of the home that something was there. I never knew why until years later when I was talking with cousins and they explained they had the same feelings. I mentioned this to my mother and she said that the home was haunted by her mother (My grandmother) who died just before I was born. My father then collaborated on the story saying he seen things move on there own and had seen my grandmother in the house not long after she had passed.

After that, I was hooked watching shows, reading books, or whatever I could get my hands on or watch. It wasn’t until years later when TAPS appeared on TV that I finally realized what I wanted to do, and that was investigate the Paranormal.

At first it was to please my own curiosity and skepticism, and then when the evidence led me to believe that ghosts do exist, and life after death is real, I suddenly had the urgency and almost like a revelation of what I needed to do; help people. Help people that are experiencing these sometimes frightening Paranormal events and first validate their experiences and then help them cope with the Paranormal events in their home or place of business. I then wanted to educate these victims of the Paranormal on why these things may be occurring, and possibly help them rid their home of these Paranormal events. My main goal in this field is to help families with their Paranormal problems.

Don Frank, Co-Founder

My name is Don Frank. I was born September 19, 1976 Fort Riley Kansas. I moved to Pennsylvania at a very young age, and grew up in the Harrisburg area.

I’ve been interested in the paranormal since I was young. I can remember reading books about cryptozoology, UFOs and ghosts. I became more interested in the paranormal as I grew older watching TV shows such as Ghost Hunters. I was amazed by their use of basic equipment to capture evidence of paranormal activity and in 2007 I started exploring my own theories on why hauntings occur.

In 2007 I started HAPS with John Curley. Thus far I’ve had the privilege of investigating such locations as Eastern State Penitentiary, Fort Mifflin and notable sites in and around Gettysburg, PA. My favorite types of investigations are private residences because I enjoy helping people understand paranormal activity.

My long term goal in researching the paranormal is to determine the reasons why hauntings occur. I would like to contribute to the field by experimenting with advanced technology to capture evidence of paranormal phenomena.

Diana Irvin, Case Manager

My name is Diana Irvin and I live in Fredericksburg, PA with my husband David. My husband and I have three grown children, two grandchildren, two dogs, and two birds. I am a Registered Nurse by day and paranormal investigator by night. My experiences in the paranormal extend as far back as 44 years ago. When I was five years old we had a very close friend of the family pass away suddenly from a heart attack. Soon after his death our family began experiencing paranormal activity on a daily bases. Our experiences consisted of objects moving in the house, beds shaking, footsteps up and down the stairs, voices, being touched, and full body apparitions. We tried moving out of our house to see if that would eliminate the problem but whenever we would move the spirit or spirits would always seem to find us. Today my family and I still experience paranormal activity on a regular basis, however not as intense as when we were children.

Over the years my interest in and curiosity about the paranormal has grown so much so that the next logical step for me was to become a paranormal investigator. Because it has always been such a big part of my life, I want to learn as much as I can about the paranormal and being a member of HAPS has given me the opportunity to explore it in ways that I hadn’t done on my own. My goals as an investigator are to help people who are experiencing paranormal activity, to find scientific evidence to validate their experiences and to educate them on why they may be experiencing these strange occurrences. I believe there are many things out there that we do not fully understand or appreciate and I hope by being a paranormal investigator it will give me the knowledge I need to better understand the paranormal.

Sue Schenskie, Case Manager

For as long as I can remember, I have been interested in the paranormal. I spent the first eleven years of my life in a haunted house. I was terrorized and terrified by something that I could and did see and hear on a regular basis.

When we moved, it was one of happiest days of my life. Since then, I have experienced living in homes with spirits, but none have been as terrifying, thankfully.

There may have been groups out there when I was a child, but the paranormal wasn’t as prevalent in the media as it is today. Movies like Poltergeist were all I had to reference and that wasn’t realistic to me at all. Heck, it didn’t even scare me.

That is why I investigate the paranormal. I want to be able help families that are going through what I went through. I want them to know that they’re not alone and they’re not crazy. This stuff does happen and I want to prove it.

Carl Spencer, Investigator

I have been fascinated with the paranormal since I was a child. I grew up in a haunted house. When I was a child I would watch all the paranormal and cryptic shows. As I got older I would go up to Gettysburg every chance I got to investigate on my own. I eventually joined a paranormal group seven years ago and got to investigate many locations. Some locations we would investigate multiple times trying to stack evidence such as the same voices the same claims of paranormal. The most important part of joining a team to me was helping families that were really having problems understanding what was happening to them. It is great feeling making a family feel more comfortable with what is going on in their home. I would really love to understand what happens in the spirit world. I really don’t watch the TV shows because a real investigation is nothing like what you see. Most of the investigation is sitting in the dark with not much going on.

Ryan Potuck, Investigator

I grew up in Mehoopany Pennsylvania and graduated from Penn State University, Harrisburg Campus, in the spring of 2016. I joined HAPS in the fall of 2014 and learned a lot since then.

What really sparked my interest in the paranormal was watching all the different ghost hunting shows on TV. I couldn’t get enough of the shows on ghosts, UFOs, and other paranormal occurrences around the world. Basically, if it was against the norm, I loved researching it. I then realized that I could search for paranormal groups in Harrisburg and try and follow my passion. This led to many great experiences with an amazing team.

Since I’ve started my interest with HAPS I’ve been on many cases and became a true believer. The first case I’ve been on I caught a little girl saying hi to me in a recording and on a later case I was spoken to directly in my ear. I now know, without a doubt, that there’s paranormal activity in this world. I can only imagine how hard it would be for someone to live in a location with paranormal activity and I am here to help whoever I can to understand the truth.
